The foliage color is bluish-green but turns a very pronounced purplish color in winter. Bar Harbor Juniper was first discovered in Mt Desert Island, Maine, and has been found to have a very high tolerance for salt spray. Easy to grow, and quite hardy it makes a fine groundcover, with good dense coverage. It's a versatile evergreen shrub due to its spreading nature.
